MindManager 7.0 shortcuts

How to save time writing and marketing with the Windows version of MindManager 7.0 Pro

Keyboard shortcuts increase your productivity, even if you are new to writing and marketing with MindManager 7.0 Pro. A few seconds here, and a few seconds there, add up at the end of the day!

Keyboard shortcuts let you access commands without taking your hand from the keyboard and reaching for the mouse. These shortcuts are activated by holding down the Control, Alt, and Shift keys while pressing other keys.

Many of the following shortcuts are new to MindManager 7.0 Pro for the Microsoft Windows operating system.

Adding or removing emphasis

These shortcuts focus your own, or your audience's, attention on selected topics.

1. Show branch alone

F4 function key. This focuses attention on a single topic or subtopic. Repeat to show all topics or subtopics.

2. Add task icons

Ctrl + Shift + 1 2 3, etc. Use these shortcuts to add icons and change task priority. Use Ctrl + Shift + 0 to remove task priority icons.

3. Add boundary

Ctrl _ Shift + B. Use this shortcut to add a boundary to emphasize a topic and of its subtopics.

Manage screen area

These shortcuts allow you to see more of your current map.

4. Hide task pane

Ctrl + Shift F1. MindManager's task pane to the right of the screen often opens by itself, such as when opening a new map. Use this shortcut to hide (or, later, reveal) the task pane without using the mouse.

5. Show, hide ribbon

Ctrl + F1. Minimize the Ribbon at the top of the screen when you want to view more of your map. You can always return the Ribbon by repeating the Ctrl + F1 shortcut, or selecting one of the menus.

6. Show, hide detail

Shift + Alt + 1, 2, 3. These reveal different subtopic levels throughout an entire map.

7. Collapse and center map

Ctrl + F3. This is a great way to regain your perspective after concentrating on topic or subtopic details.

Inserting elements

These shortcuts make it easy to add content and formatting to your maps.

8. Add links

Ctrl + K. This opens MindManager's Add Hyperlink dialog box.

Note: if you have previously copied a hyperlink from your web browser, you can immediately insert it with the Ctrl + V shortcut.

9. Show, hide notes

Ctrl + T. This makes it easy to open and close the Notes pane.

10. Add callouts

Ctrl + Shift + Enter. This is a great time saver when creating callouts.

Note: If you can simultaneously add a callout and paste previously copied or cut text in memory by using the Ctrl + Shift + V shortcut.

Editing and reviewing

The following will help you save time editing and previewing your maps.

11. Selecting topics and text

Left, right, up, down arrow keys. Use these, plus the 4, 6, 8, 2 numeric keys, to advance from topic to topic.

F2. Use this shortcut to begin editing text after selecting a topic or subtopic.

Ctrl + Shift + Left arrow. This selects the previous word. Ctrl + Shift + right arrow selects the next word for editing, moving, or deleting.

12. Print preview

Ctrl + F2. This is a great way to preview your work before printing it and sharing it with others.
