Apple Computer

Channel development: helping retailers market more effectively. Addressing the perennial problem of unused co-operative advertising funds, I prepared a marketing handbook and series of workshops around the country that showed Apple retailers how to market themselves more effectively on the local level using their accumulated co-operative advertising funds.


Hewlett Packard

Point of sale merchandising, new product development.
Selling at the Speed of Light
was a sales training guide I wrote to help Hewlett-Packard's sales channel emphasize user benefits, instead of specifications. I also advised firm and represented end-user color ink-jet and laser printing concerns at presentations delivered at major computer industry technology conferences.


Magnolia (bought out by Best Buy)

Market expansion and $87 million dollar buy-out. As advertising manager and consultant, I helped Magnolia outlive its competitors by consistent educational marketing and cost-effective image building. Magnolia Hi-Fi become the dominant electronics retailer in the Pacific Northwest (and beyond). Best Buy recently acquired Magnolia and is currently adding "Magnolia-philosophy" inside its superstores.


Taming media costs and attracting pre-sold prospects.
In just a few years, I helped Ballard Computer grow into the Pacific Northwest's largest independent computer retailer. Ballard's success was based on small advertisements that were always present, targeted newspaper inserts, in-store merchandising, and customer follow-up Ballard grew from one small to five superstores within three years.


Shearman & Sterling

Simplifying executive new business presentations.
With over seven hundred partners in thirteen offices on three continents, Shearman & Sterlining's new business presentations lacked a consistent voice. I simplified the presentation template and prepared a simple style guide, which greatly reduced the time it took to prepare presentations and also contributed to a more consistent image for the firm.


Yamaha

Refocusing channel merchandising strategies. At one time, many consumer electronics stores selling Yamaha Audio were focusing on the high end, ignoring the growing market for mid-priced items. My Selling The First Time Buyer presentation and workbook increased market share at a time of intense price competition.


Volvo

Customer surveys. Volvo North America hired Roger C. Parker to test the effectiveness of customer service and on-going promotion in one of its most important territories from a customer's perspective.


Paper Direct

Building sales through effective market education.
Market education often plays a major role in my client work. For PaperDirect, I created a series of books to simplify their product line and help prospects to choose and make best use of PaperDirect's extensive line of pre-printed colored papers. Thiese premium books were supplemented by ongoing articles in Technique, a monthly design magazine aimed at entrepreneurs.


Adobe

Writing to educate and sell.
During the early days of desktop publishing--before Aldus Software was purchased by Adobe--I conceived and wrote the Aldus Guide to Basic Design. Hundreds of thousands of copies were printed, increasing the rate of software registration and building customer loyalty by sharing the basics of effective design.


 Bang & Olufsen

Helping channels increase sales of up-market products
Bang & Olufsen of America has hired me on several occasions to help their channel partners profit from reselling previous customers and encouraging increased referrals.


Gene Paltrineri impressions

Helping a service professional build a platform. For Gene Paltrineri, Certified Master Photographic Craftsman with no previous desktop publishing experience, I prepared a newsletter template he could complete himself, helped him cut $10,000 from his advertising budget and attract better qualified prospects.


Microsoft

Writing, promotion, and consultation. I've been preparing online content and templates for the Microsoft for over a decade, in addition to representing Microsoft on new product press tours throughout the United States. I've also consulting on version updates and other projects.


Mindjet

Promoting user benefits and brand awareness. Using blogs, newsletters, special reports, teleseminars, webinars, and Wizards, I have prepared helped introduce Mindjet's Mind Manager mind mapping software to overlooked markets like authors, marketers, and self-employed professionals.


 

Teleseminar host and producer. During the past few years, in addition to my own ongoing seminar and webinar series, I've been hosting the Wednesday night "expert interviews" for the Guerrilla Marketing Association. I've interviewed over 150 of the most respected and best-selling marketing and publishing professionals who have been my guests.


AWAI - American Writers & Artists Inc.

Copywriting and presentations. I've created and written two major curriculum projects for the American Writers & Artists, a division of Agora Publishing. I am am key presenter at their annual Graphic Design Bootcamp and contributor to their design newsletter.


The Anger Coach - Dr Fiore & Associates

Creating a platform for career transition. The Anger Bee, a newsletter template prepared for a Southern California psychologist, provided the platform necessary to transform his career. The newsletter platform opened up numerous opportunities for career growth through writing, training, and information publishing.


Espresso Dave's catering service

Launching a brand on a shoestring. The Trade Show Marketing newsletter template I created for Espresso Dave immediately became a lead-generation success, generating press interest and positioning the firm for rapid growth and a national presence.


Ascender Corporation

Writing to help non-designers avoid embarrassing mistakes. Helped Ascender Corporation create an inexpensive font package for self-employed professionals and small businesses expand their design options. The Ascender Creativity Font Pack includes an online font selector and a review of the most common formatting mistakes.

Providing a non-designer with a promotional platform.
In addition to a strong, recognizable brand image, Eric L. Brotman Ph.D. Seminars now has the marketing platform and templates needed to promote his seminars and consultations through newsletters, postcards, and faxes.
